Sort of Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill Margarita

It is sad to announce that the event, Cook like a Star has finally came to an end.

I have started Cook like a Star in March 2012 and we had 14 of these events in total. At its peak, we have a total of 130 entries that linked with us. Now, it is hardly more than 25!!!

Well, I like to view my decision to stop Cook like a Star as a new beginning. It is a milestone for me to look at my cooking / baking and blogging in another perspective.

Cheers to all that we have cooked well for Cook like a Star!
Cheers to all that we have learned well from Cook like a Star!
Cheers to all that we have made lots of friends from Cook like a Star!
Hip Hip Horray!!!

Thank you!!! ... especially to Yen from Eat Your Heart Out, Mich from Piece of Cake, Joyce from Kitchen Flavours and Diana from Domestic Goddess Wannabe!!! Thanks all for your constant support!!!

Nevertheless, let's celebrate!

This is a simple margarita that I have made for myself.

It is sort of Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill kind because I have made it with freshly squeezed lime juice plus blended ice.

Before proceeding on, I like to emphasize that this drink is NOT suitable for kids as it contains alcohol.

I have squeeze the juice of one lime for each serve of drink.
Freshly squeezed lime juice itself can be very sour and you need to sweeten the drink with either sugar syrup or light corn syrup or Stevia syrup.
These are the two alcohol that you need.
Coat the rim of your glasses with salt.
Combine the ingredients and serve!

Here's the recipe that is mostly adapted from Bobby Flay

Make one serve of cocktail
60 ml (1/4 cup) white tequila
30ml (2 tbsp) orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec (but I added just 15ml)
30ml (2 tbsp) freshly squeeze lime juice (from 1 lime)
adequate sugar syrup or light corn syrup or Stevia syrup, sweeten to taste.
adequate ice cubes, can be processed into fine ice
lime wedge, to serve
coarse salt

Combine tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, syrup and ice (blended or not) in a cocktail shaker and shake for 10 seconds.

Rub the rim of a glass with the lime wedge and dip in salt. Fill the glass with cocktail and top it up with extra ice. Garnish with the lime wedge and serve!

Cheers!

  2. Your margarita looks very refreshing.. I can distinguish margarita from the rest of the cocktail because of the salt around the glass.. Oohh and maybe bloody mary, coz of the red thingy.. Seldom drink cocktail.. Most of the time just mocktail.. But I've drank many types of coolers during college days *wink*
